J R Firby Ltd is run by Richard Firby. The company is situated at Slingsby, which is  14 miles North East of York just off the B1257, near the Castle Howard Estate. Richard Started the business in 1991 buying and selling the odd piece of machinery as and when, originally bought to use on his fathers farm until the business grew to become more viable than farming. Richard still farms and tries to use as many different machines out on the farm, in order to make sure they are genuine and no major faults.  Most machines are checked over, with some repairs under taken in the workshop.   Our main line of business is buying and selling combines and tractors ranging from models in the 1970s - todays' second hand combines and tractors.   Not only do we buy and sell tractors and combines but we also deal in all agricultural machinery from small to large, from grassland to arable.    Richard also has an order book and tries to buy machinery that people specify to fit their requirements.  We also use a mixture of local hauliers who efficiently and economically move machinery around the country.
