<title> The NFU Food and Farming Roadshow
<subhead> If your interest spreads from new and used tractors to all things agricultural then you would definitely benefit from finding out when one of the NFU’s roadshows might be in your area. Below we give you all the information about the NFU Food and Farming roadshow that you might need.
The NFU’s Food and farming roadshow began its action packed schedule round England and Wales in April 2005 and plans to visit 84 different locations across the country. It has the backing and sponsorship of one of the main British supermarkets in its goal to heighten the British public’s awareness of British food and farming and agriculture in general. Surveys suggest that the public have limited knowledge of what farmers do on a daily basis or the vital role they play in providing the food we put in the table. Therefore, this tour aims to begin to change this.
The 84 locations are scattered around the country and will be at a variety of venues from agricultural shows to supermarkets. The emphasis of the tour, which is now in its sixth year, will be placed on where our food comes from and why the continuation of the production of British food is essential for us as a nation. It will also encourage the public to recognise the importance of farming in Britain in terms of preserving the British countryside.
All of this is presented in a fun and yet educational way which is great for adults and children alike. There will be importance placed on the Red Tractor symbol for assured food and the children will even be able to sit in a fluffy red tractor. Other attractions include:
Day-old ducklings
A chance to milk a life-sized wooden model cow named Annabel
Give-aways for the children
Games and entertainment
The tour has everything needed this year to draw the crowds by way of its celebrity Lancashire farmer Johnny Ball. He will be on hand throughout the roadshow to answer any questions the public have about British food, its farming and farmers. He will also be handing out booklets on the new British Farm Standard recipe, which has cooking recipes using the best of the British seasonal produce.
